I've mentioned my Macbook Air and my iPhone on numerous occassions, as I love them both. The techie in me loves these gadgets. What I haven't mentioned, is that the girl in me has also customized these products to have their own unique look.
My iPhone has an SGP metal skin (specifically the blue Alice one).

You may or may not be able to tell that I also have an invisibleShield on it. Here's a picture of the back of the inviabile shield (click for bigger version):
My Macbook Air is unique as well. On the top and inside, I have a skin from 3acp.
I also have the invisibleShield on the bottom of my laptop. (click for bigger version)

Your augmented gadgets are beautiful, no question, but don't you find the enhancements distracting? (I admit that I prefer a plain desktop background because patterns and photographs make it harder to pick out the icons -- otherwise I probably wouldn't even be asking such a question.)
On a more serious note, as a child I treasured flawless shiny things and every mark and blemish that was acquired through normal use caused endless agonising and self-recrimination.
Such was my love for "truth" and simplicity however that I never considered applying protective coatings or other forms of "plastic surgery" to restore them to their former appearance.
Instead, I made up my mind to bury such inconvenient feelings and in time even came to relish the appearance of those worn and much used favourite items.
I am especially proud of my collection of dog-eared books, much to the horror of my wife who has a large collection of books without a single crease on the spine or mark on a page.
Which brings me back to my MacBook Pro. The damn thing is so beautiful that for the first time in decades I hardly dare use something for fear of harming its appearance. I guess I'll just have to get used to thinking of it as a work of art and be satisfied with using it as that -- something to look at but not touch.
Thank heavens for SSH and VNC.
@Andrew
I think girls are used to distractions when it comes to accessories. We wear high heeled shoes that hinder our walking. We wear heavy bracelets that clang against the table when we type. I think somehow we're either used to it or we deal with it better. =)
Heh. I cringe whenever I see my boyfriend dogear a book, particularly if it's mine (and somehow I cringe more if it's a hard-covered book too). Then again, both of his Macbook Pros are also completely crusted with all sorts of junk on the keyboard, screen, and speakers. Kinda gross, really.
Heh. What's the point of a laptop if you're going to SSH and VNC to use it? Might as well be an iMac then. =)
So did you install the invisible shield first and then the decorative skin on top of the invisible shield? I am thinking of doing that on my touch phone but didn't know if it was possible. I really like how your apple looks. I want the same look but on my touch phone.
